Walking across historic and current design in Vienna: Karlsplatz – Opera passageway – Ringstrasse boulevard

Starting at the Otto Wagner Pavilion, the origins of Karlsplatz – which was built in 1900 – and its development to the current design will be explained. Continuing through the redesigned Karlsplatz-Passages well as the Opera and the Albertina Passage underpasses, their historical and the new purpose will be revealed from the pedestrian point of view. The emergence of the 150 years old Ringstrasse boulevard and its development up to now will be presented at the Goethe Monument (Opernring). The tour will end at the Ring – a multiway boulevard – on the way back to the Vienna City Hall.
