A city in transition: Vienna’s green Prater, its new university campus and the residential area ‘Viertel 2′
This tour along the Prater, an important recreational area that lies next to the amusement park with the famous Giant Ferris Wheel, takes you through the campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Six international architects developed this site, including the Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, who planned the imposing ‘Library & Learning Center’, as well as BUSarchitektur, who designed the Auditorium Center. This exceptionally original campus with its attractive footpaths was opened in 2013 and is accessible for all pedestrians. The tour ends in the urban development area “Viertel 2”, which is well-known for its interesting mix of uses. The already implemented components of the urban development area as well as the future planning concept for the area of the former harness racing track Krieau will be presented.
