Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Juergen Gerlach is heading the Institute for Road Traffic Planning and Engineering at the University of Wuppertal, Germany. He is a civil engineer, owner of a consultant office and full professor since 1999.
Juergen has designated experience in road design, network planning, environmental assessments and especially in road safety for all road users for 25 years. He works on standards and guidelines, is certified training supervisor for road safety auditors, chief editor of the German magazine for road safety and member in committees of the PIARC World Road Association and of EU-COST actions. He is a speaker at several international conferences, was engaged as invited speaker in several PIARC World Road Congresses and Walk21 conferences and he organized the First German Walking Congress 2014 in Wuppertal with more than 300 participants.
Juergen was honoured for outstanding activities from the FGSV German Research Society on Roads and Transport such as from the DVWG German Association of Transport Sciences and for the best traineeship at the University of Wuppertal.
